The snow hasn’t fallen yet, but November is still a time to start sipping the cozy drinks. Goodbye sangrias and lemonades, hello warm and toasty ingredients! Here’s this month’s five star sippers:
No name (Rosemary Peach Mango Tea) Cocktail – Frings
I recently went to Frings for dinner and was blown away by their cocktail selection (I want to go back and try them all)! However, it was when the bartender came around with a cart and explained a special cocktail she was making that I determined what my sipper was for the night. This A+ cocktail included Drake’s Virginia Black Whiskey, peach juice, mango juice, peach infused tea and rosemary syrup (basically all of my favourite things in one drink – how could I say no?). It’s not on their menu, but hopefully it gets added soon!
We recently came back from a trip in Europe. On the way home, we stopped over in Amsterdam for a few days. We luckily stumbled upon Broughwerij Brewery on the outskirts of downtown. The venue and the beer were incredible. Only open from 2-8 p.m. every day, this place is swarmed with locals and tourists from open to close. That’s because their craft beer offerings are unlike any others! My personal favourite out of the many offerings was the Ijwit. Second place: the I.P.A. If you’re ever in Holland, this isn’t a place to miss! Unfortunately through my research, I don’t think we’ll be able to find this brewery’s ales in Ontario. More reason to travel!
Giroflé 2013 White Wine
Also while abroad, we checked out a much hyped restaurant called Boca de Cena in Ponta Delgada,São Miguel. This restaurant’s owner is also the only employee. He’s the bartender, chef, host and waiter. Because of this, he can only seat so many people a night for dinner. We were lucky enough to get a table and pick from his fresh, locally sourced menu. After ordering some seafood dishes, he recommended the Giroflé Douro wine, which was one of my favourite bottles on the entire trip! It has grape different grape varieties and went great with our seafood dishes and the cozy environment.
Snow Day – DavidsTea
I’m prepping for the snow any day now. In fact, it may even happen today! So I stocked up on one of my favourite natural teas: Snow Day. Their slogan for this tea describes it perfectly: “This all natural chocolate-mint tisane is the perfect way to warm up on a chilly day.” Snow Day consists of peppermint leaves, cocoa beans, cocoa husk, chocolate drops, white chocolate and sugar sprinkles. It’s also a perfect low calorie substitute for a peppermint latte! Enjoy sippers!
