December’s Five Star Sippers

December is here and the holidays are near! Cozy up with this month’s five star sippers:

Mulled Wine from the Toronto Christmas Market

mulled-wine-1786596_1280Yes, this is my favourite time of  year in Toronto. And yes, the Toronto Christmas Market is my favourite place to go during this time of year in Toronto. The cobblestone streets are filled with hot chocolate, apple cider and my favourite, mulled wine! The price may be steep here, but don’t miss out on grabbing a cup to walk around this magical market with! Warms you up inside and tastes like the holidays!

Another one of my favourite holiday drinks (which my family sips on Christmas Eve) is Jägercider. Add some spiced Jägermeister (can be bought at the LCBO) to a mug of apple cider and top off with some cinnamon and nutmeg. You’ll instantly feel toasty with this delicious sipper!

DIY Peppermint Hot Chocolate

I love to use Martha Stewart’s Peppermint Hot Chocolate recipe, and then add my own twist to it. What you’ll need is some salt, cocoa powder, milk, semisweet chocolate chips and peppermint. First you put the cocoa in a medium saucepan and whisk in the milk until the cocoa has dissolved. Next, add in the chocolate chips and crushed peppermint and let it simmer for about 8 to 10 minutes. You’ll then need to bring the mixture to a boil and immediately remove from heat. Add salt, as Martha says, and then I like to add in some cinnamon and sometimes some Bailey’s too. Serve with a peppermint stick in each mug and enjoy!

Muskoka Brewery Winterweiss

I have trouble drinking beer in the cold weather. But Muskoka Brewery’s Winterweiss brew is one that I can drink any time! It’s full of cinnamon and clove notes, and tastes like a cheerful holiday in a cup! It’s only available in the winter months at the LCBO, so stock up fast!
